Reese Witherspoon: New Face of Animal-Friendly Avon Charity

Reese Witherspoon: New Face of Animal-Friendly Avon CharityThere's a new Avon lady in town, and she's setting out to conquer breast cancer with a charity that doesn't harm animals. Just in time for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Avon Products, Inc., has named Reese Witherspoon its first-ever global ambassador and honorary chair of the Avon Foundation, a cruelty-free charity that focuses on breast cancer research and awareness, domestic violence education and services, and emergency relief programs.

In addition to her duties with the foundation, the actor, who is best known for playing an anti-animal-testing crusader in the movie Legally Blonde, will also serve as a spokesperson for Avon's cruelty-free collection of beauty products.

Dedicated to helping all women, especially those who are medically underserved, Avon Foundation's Breast Cancer Crusade focuses on early detection, screening, and finding a cruelty-free cure. And rather than wasting funds on cruel, archaic, and unreliable animal tests, the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade channels its funds into prevention, community-based organizations, and cutting-edge clinical research.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and everybunny knows that searching for a cure shouldn't cost animals their lives. So before you donate your time and money to any charity, find out where it stands on animal testing.

Just like the Avon Foundation, the cruelty-free charities listed below would never throw your money away to fund animal experiments. Find additional humane charities using the Council on Humane Giving's search page.

What You Can Do
Please write to these breast cancer charities that do support animal tests and explain why they should only do animal-free research.
